The year 2014 was the 24th year of operation for OTJ Architects, headquartered in Washington, DC. In addition, it indicated a year of change, sustained success and growth.

In October, Ania Leeson became Studio Manager and was named an Associate in the conclusion of the year. A registered architect and LEED Accredited Professional with a Master’s in Architecture from Harvard University, her career has crossed 10 years with the previous four years being at OTJ. Ania’s technical foundation and expertise were essential in directing and designing two of OTJ’s showpiece jobs: National Restaurant Association and National Trust for Historic Preservation, which were both recently featured in the Washington Business Journal.

Laura Kennington, who formerly served as Manager of Company Development & Marketing Strategy, was named Associate in December. Having joined OTJ nine years back, she directs the promotion and company development teams and is involved in establishing the strategic direction of the company. She’s an active member of the property community and now serves on the Jubilee Support Alliance Auxiliary Board and is involved in organizations such as CADRE CoreNet Global and Commercial property Marketers. Her local participation includes being a former Co- member of Commercial Real Estate for girls and Manager of the Real Estate Games for JDRF.!

Other OTJ staff named Associate Degrees in 2014 contain: Elizabeth Long and Annette Carter, Kaan Dilber, Brett Hartle, Travis Herret.!

Besides these individual achievements, company-wide success may be found in jobs successfully finished in 2014 – several in-depth below – and additionally contain work that is national for Level 3, Strayer University and a top banking and financial institution.

United Educators



To allow for increase and open up the floor plate, our layout put workstations along the window line, with 80 percent of offices on the inside. Bistro, or the lunchroom, was transferred to the inside and offers a social, collaborative space for staff to collect. Since it’s not on the window line, we contained a floor-to-ceiling bamboo wall sticker to offer an organic, outdoorsy part in the space. !

Council on Competitiveness



Council on Competitiveness’s primary focus was the layout of its 50-person conference room, which is used for board meetings and could be leased to be used by other organizations. The nonprofit also needed to just use American products because its mission would be to raise the country’s competitiveness in the world market; hence, 99 percent of the goods seen in the space were made in America. !

Global Integrity



Global Integrity, a long-term renter in a co-working office, has an open office layout integrating margin telephone rooms, various meeting rooms, billing stations, a big pantry as well as a 2,000 SF occasion space complete with a bar and foosball table. Touchdown desks are offered to let for visitors is the event space, which is used for networking and educational occasions.!

SunEdison



SunEdison’s office features modern details and intangible substances to strengthen the brand including a sunburst image in the conference room and light fixtures that mimic the sun in reception. An elegant stairway encourages coherence between both floors and additionally links the floors and spatially, that will eventually place different sections.

Transwestern



To help staff transition from offices to workstations, the space has five team rooms with plentiful sound/visual options. We created a big multipurpose place next to reception which is used for all- lunch, informal meetings, staff meetings and greeting visitors. It was made to represent the tradition of Transwestern within the brand new office, which is targeting certification in the LEED(registered company) Silver degree.!
