The latest, largest in esteemed home addresses for the Charlotte housing market would need to be in Ballantyne. Ballantyne was designed on an expanse of property that was wonderful (formerly the Morrison Hunting Preserve) under the sharp eye of Smokey Bissel. The Ballantyne place runs like a town unto Charlotte, although in itself. The Ballantyne development is located in South Charlotte; right on the border of the Union County and South Carolina boundaries. Close to the junction of I-485 and Johnston Road, with Ballantyne Commons running through its center.
The upscale nature of the region has had home buyers flocking to it in the 1990’s -back since its beginning. Picks in home abound, that range from The Ballantyne Country Club and all its custom homes, sprinkled into the mix are several lovely single family neighborhoods, swim/tennis neighborhoods, town houses and condominiums are nestled in along with a couple apartment complexes. The development comprises a 4 star resort (Ballantyne) multiple Marriott resorts, and an 18 hole daily-fee golf course. The Ballantyne Development additionally has a mixture of companies; fiscal, insurance, contractors (you name it) within the boundaries of a 535 acre corporate park.
What makes it so popular amongst its residents, is the absolute number of eateries (chain, ethnic, upscale and sandwich), market (regular,all-natural and market) and retail (national, local and boutique ) shopping that’s available at your fingertips. Anchored in the center of the development is The Ballantyne Village. This is a pedestrian friendly centre with indoor and outdoor dining; live music outside generally on weekends and Wednesdays; a grand water fountain with cobblestone walks and nearby homemade chocolate shoppe alongside an excellent cigar shop (whole with smoking room), amongst a variety of others stores. In the event you want more than boutiques, you will find Carolina Place Mall (Charlotte’s biggest) only three miles down the road, with furniture row to its side. You need to be able to discover whatever you want within a five mile radius of Ballantyne, including multiple theaters. It is not that inconvenient.
For all people with kids, this region is well known for the schools in Ballantyne (a bevy of the top scoring schools in Charlotte). The region is home to: Ardrey Kell High School; Community House Middle School; Endhaven Ballantyne, Elon Park and Community House Elementary Schools. It’s also home to our most busy library, South Charlotte’s Regional Branch, and two YMCA’s! The Ballantyne YMCA is for adults (you are able to package this up with the family YMCA membership). The family Y (Morrison YMCA) is just around the corner. It’s inline field hockey field, a water park, soccer fields, play ground area, and a lot of work out courses and fitness rooms; simply do your thing in the fitness center if that is not your cup of tea. Nothing ratty here!
